Summer Vacation In Texas

This summer we once again went down to Texas to spend the 4th of July with our parents and relatives.  We were down there for 2 weeks, so we had a good visit with everyone.  Here are some of the highlights…

Life At Random

Well…the kids are out of school for the summer.  Ben did his "end of year" research project on his pet lizard "Godzilla," so that was neat to see.  He used Power Point and everything.  Megan had a great "field day" with her class.  Now we're only half way into July and it's already been a very busy summer…

Imagine Dragons

Coincidentally we all went to another rock concert recently.  "Imagine Dragons" came to Detroit recently so all 4 of us drove down to see them live.  The kids love the band and a lot of their songs, so Jenny and I thought it would be fun for all of us to go see them live.  Plus it was somewhat of a "graduation present" for Ben for graduating 5th grade.  We had great seats, which made the night extra special for the kids.  Then at one point the lead singer jumped into the crowd and ran up the steps next to us, about 8 seats away, so they got a kick out of that.

Kayaks

For Father's Day this year we bought ourselves some kayaks for the whole family to use.  Jenny and I had been thinking about getting some kayaks for a while now, and we've always kept our eye on them at the store.  I've kayaked several times out at our local nature center and I really enjoy it, and now Ben is starting to get experienced with it.

Anyway, we got ourselves 2 10 ft. kayaks, and one 6 ft. raft for Megan to use.  We've been enjoying taking them out to our area rivers and lakes and just paddling around.  The kids really enjoy it.  They love cruising around and looking for fish and animals.

What a RUSH

Back in June I took Ben to his first rock concert.  We drove down to Detroit to see RUSH, which is my favorite group.  This year is their "40th Anniversary" tour, so it might very well be the last time I get to see them live.  Seeing my favorite band with my son made it extra special.  And for his first concert he loved it.
