Happy Birthday!

My dad's birthday is this Saturday, his 70th. So we decided to surprise him with a birthday cake. Ben and my Dad are about to blow out the candles.

Art Time

My parents got to do some art time with Ben.

Early Christmas

While my parents were here over Thanksgiving, we all decided to have an early Christmas together. Ben of course wanted to help everyone open their presents, including Glacier.

Go Spirit!

Ben and I took my Dad to a Saginaw Spirit hockey game. Ben always has a fun time. This time I got him a little eagle, which is the team mascot.

Go Texas!

Though we weren't in Texas this year for Thanksgiving, we were there in spirit...rooting for the Longhorns. Megan got to watch her first Texas / Texas A&M game. And though the outcome wasn't what we wanted, it was still fun.

Thanksgiving

In addition to my parents we had my grandmother over for Thanksgiving.

Hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa

Last week we had my parents in town for Thanksgiving. They had a fun time playing with Ben and spending time with Megan. I think the kids pretty much kept them busy.

Take a stand

One of Megan's favorite things to do right now is stand up. When we put her up on her feet her face just beams with joy. She gets so excited when she's on her feet.

What's Megan up to?

Megan is getting bigger and bigger. She's also developing more of a personality now. When she's happy...she's REAL happy. When she's upset...she's REALLY upset. We call her our little "drama queen" because when she cries she goes overboard with it. Also, I would say her two favorite people in the world are Jenny and Ben. Whenever she sees either one she starts smiling and looks at them with great interest. As for me...she likes me a lot more now than 2 months ago. She smiles for me a lot, and we're starting to form our own games that we play. Yet occasionally during the day she still gives me the occasional "no, I want Mommy" routine with the bottle. It's weird...I thought we'd be past that by now. But she's persistent I guess.

What's Ben up to?

A few months ago Ben got a new dinosaur puzzle. He absolutely loves it, and wants to play with it all the time.
It's one of the coolest kid's puzzles I've seen. We have fun putting it together, and then afterward we try to name them all.

We've also been trying to encourage Ben to color more. He will sit down and do it for a little while, but he quickly loses interest and wants to do something else.

Also, a while back Ben got a Dora learning game for the Mac. We play it occasionally, and usually together. But lately he's figured out how to do it himself. He'll sit there for a half an hour moving the mouse around playing the game. Pretty cool for a 3 year old.

Our Halloween

We began our Halloween actually the night before by making Halloween cookies for our Halloween party. As you can see...Megan did the supervising.

On Halloween, Ben's school had a Halloween party. All the kids dressed up and had a costume parade. Then everyone did Halloween activities, like making cookies, mummies, and painting pumpkins.

In the afternoon Jenny invited us up to her office, where they were having a Halloween party at Dow. The kids got to "trick-or-treat" from office to office and get all kinds of snacks and goodies.

At night we had some friends come over for trick-or-treating. We had Parker and his mom and dad, Miles and Quinten and their dad, and Nicholas and William with their mom and dad. We ate chili, cookies, and all sorts of snacks.

Here's a picture of Ben and Parker dressed up and ready to go out.

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate this year. It rained on us while we were trick-or-treating. There was a group of us, 4 boys running around, and I was walking Megan around in her stroller...and it was raining on us. We got to a decent amount of houses this year, but after the rain the boys all said "enough." When we got back to our house to dry off all the kids took off their costumes and started eating treats.

So despite the weather not cooperating I'd say we had a good Halloween this year. Ben had a great time. Today we're going to start taking the decorations down. Ben is still trying to talk me into leaving "Mr. Bones" out in front of the house. He likes going to see him every day. I think he'll miss him.
