Davis Mountains & Big Bend National Park

On the second half of our Texas trip we spent a week out in west Texas with Jenny's Mom's side of the family.  We all caravanned from Austin and drove west to the Davis mountains.  There we stayed at the Indian Lodge in Davis Mountains State Park.  Around there we did some hiking, toured Fort Davis, and took in a "star party" at the McDonald Observatory.  Then from there we all drove south to Big Bend National Park.  There we did some more hiking, drove around and took in the scenery, and got our feet wet in the Rio Grande at Santa Elena Canyon.  Ben and the boys even got stuck in the mud so bad they had to slip out of their shoes just to free themselves.  The weather was a challenge at times but overall it was a great trip.
