Tobogganing & Sledding
This time of year our City Forest turns into a "winter park." They have ice skating, a good-sized sled hill, a chalet, and even a toboggan run. In years past we've done lots of sledding at the forest, but we've never done the toboggan run. (For those of you who don't know a toboggan run is basically a track of ice that you slide down on a long sled.) Anyway, we were fortunate today to toboggan for the first time...and it was a blast. It's probably the most fun "winter activity" we've ever done. We'll definitely be doing it again...(soon I hope.) While we were there we ended up seeing our friends the Manchesters, so we did lots of sledding with them. Overall we were at the park for about 2 hours. It was a great day.
Here are some videos of the toboggan run. This first one is all 4 of us on one sled. (You can see Megan's boot squeezed between Ben and Jenny.) It's pretty exciting because you feel like you're going to fly off the track. We're going as fast as it looks.
Here's Ben and Nicholas tobogganing by themselves for the first time.
And here's Ben and Nicholas again. Here you can get a great sense of how long the track is.
