Spring Break In Texas

Here's some pictures from our week in Texas last week. We had a great time with Steve and Wendy at a beach house in Surfside. For those of you who don't know Surfside is a tiny beach town just south of the chemical plants in Freeport. Ironically, we could see Dow Chemical signs everywhere, so I'm not sure Jenny ever felt "removed" from her job. Still though we had fun having the whole beach to ourselves. Mat & Beth and the kids stopped by for a day, as well as Nathan & Leslie and their kids. Everyone had fun splashing in the waves, building sandcastles, flying kites, enjoying campfires, and dodging jellyfish on the beach. Later in the week we went to the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, where we spotted some relaxed gators next to the road and lots of wildflowers. We also made a stop in Galveston where we toured the tall ship "Elissa," and we rented a "bike car" and rode up and down the seawall. Steve and Wendy also took us to the Point West resort at the southern end of Galveston island (a sister resort of their Hollows community in Austin.) The kids enjoyed an afternoon of swimming and sun. At the end of the week we met up with Nathan and Leslie and the kids in Houston. The kids all had a blast hanging out with one another, and I took Ben and Hudson to the Space Center. As you can see it was a busy week...and we had a fun time.
