Paris Trip - Going Home

On the way home we drove through the center of France. The drive was really beautiful. A lot of rolling hills and valleys, dotted with vineyards, chateaus, villages, and an occasional castle or two high on a bluff. Going into this trip I was looking forward to seeing the sights, but I wasn't looking forward to the people or culture. However, to my surprise, we found the people of Paris to be very friendly, helpful, and inviting. Not once did we encounter anyone with the typical "french attitude." Maybe we were lucky. I don't know. But every person we encountered was nice. Even the taxi drivers were friendly. Megan had this ability to warm the taxi drivers, and break the ice. She would get in the backseat and say "bonjour" in her broken French, and then she would leave by saying a muddled "merci." Everytime the taxi driver would just laugh and smile, and sometimes pat her on the head. Like I said, nothing like the reaction I was expecting. Very friendly and accommodating.
Anyway, we had an awesome trip, and we can't wait to go back. We feel we're on borrowed time over here in Europe, and we have more countries to go see. But we are going to try to make a return trip to Paris before we end up leaving. Such a great city to visit.
