One of the great things about the Zurich International School (ZIS) is they require all 4th graders to either learn an instrument or sing in the school choir. Unlike the schools in the US (who often times cut back on their music programs in order to save money) here at ZIS music is taken very seriously and encouraged.
So back in August when Ben started 4th grade he decided he wanted to learn the trumpet. It took him a while to get the hang of it and enjoy it, but now he is really starting to take off with it. He sits down with the other 4th graders in band twice a week and they practice playing, and he's also been practicing after school and at home. He's enjoying it.
Anyway, tonight was the 4th graders first performance. They played two Christmas songs as part of a school concert. I tried to get lots of pictures and video so everyone can see Ben's big night. He did great.
