On Sunday we all loaded up the cars and headed north to Mackinaw City, which sits on the northern tip of the lower peninsula. Then we quickly hopped aboard the ferry (literally running to catch it) and went over to Mackinac Island for the afternoon. For those of you who don't know about Mackinac Island, the island is a popular tourist destination around Michigan and the entire Midwest. The island is known for its historic hotels and B&B's, the natural island beauty, and the fact that there are no cars allowed on the island (horses, bikes, and feet are the only modes of transportation.) Oh yeah...then there's all those fudge shops. Anyway, shortly after we arrived on the island we rented some bikes and rode the 8-mile-long bike trail around the whole island. The views were pretty spectacular, and the boys did great...riding the entire way along with us. After spending the afternoon on the island we returned to the mainland and had a pizza dinner in Mackinaw City.
