Tuesday we spent the day at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We started the day with a nice hike to Miners Falls. The waterfall is pretty impressive, and always reminds me of the falls out west or in Yellowstone. After our hike we drove over to the Miners Castle overlook, which is the most popular overlook in the park. Then after that we drove over to Miners Beach, which ended up being the highlight of the day for everyone. The waters of Lake Superior were probably the warmest I've ever seen them, and the kids had a great time swimming in the crystal clear water. We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun.
After dinner we took a boat cruise out on the lake and got front row views of the "pictured rocks," the cliffs that give the park its name. It was a 2 1/2 hour cruise (interrupted by a sudden rain storm along the way) and the kids did great. They were really interested in the giant cliffs and all the caves that dotted the shoreline.
