What I Did On My Summer Vacation

Summers in Michigan are beautiful...and incredibly short. Jenny and I have learned from experience that if you don't make the most of the summers up here they will quickly pass you by and you'll be stuck in the cold wondering where the warm weather went. Between the time our kids get out of school in June, and then go back to school in September we really only have about 12 weeks of summer vacation, so we want the kids to stay busy and get the most out of it. Whether it was taking trips up north, or just doing our favorite things around the house we were always doing something. I just wanted everyday to count, and I think we did that.

So now that our summer is coming to a close I was looking back at everything we did. Man we did a lot. I'd say we had our best (and busiest) summer we've had in a while.

Here's how we spent our summer vacation:

Camping up north at Hartwick Pines State Park.

Camping up north at Hoeft State Park.

Megan turned 3 and had her first real birthday party.

The Hames Family came up to visit us and we spent a week exploring the upper peninsula.

Visits to the Children's Zoo in Saginaw.

Megan's week of "Daddy Nature Camp."

Lots of hiking!

Constantly climbing the "climbing tree" at the "little park."

Exploring old lighthouses!

Lots of bike rides!

A day at Michigan's Adventure!

"Nature Camp," a "Space Camp," a "Magic Camp,' and a "Backyardigans Camp."

And after all that...we even redid our front yard.

Oh yeah! Then there's the trip down to the Detroit Zoo this weekend. READ BELOW
