Today was our "end of the season" party for Ben's soccer team. Parker's mom (Erin) rented out a private room in a restaurant downtown. The kids all had sandwiches, cupcakes, and all sorts of goodies. Afterward, I said a few words about each player and I handed out everyone's trophy. I also got an autographed picture frame and a book on how to coach soccer. It was probably the best soccer party we've ever had. As for Ben, he had his best season this time around. He really blossomed into a defensive specialist, and he even got his first goal this year. Best of all, all of us had a great time playing with all of our close friends (Miles' family, Parker's family, and Kelvyn's family.) It just made the season a lot more fun. During the party I had several parents come up to me and ask if I could coach their boys again in the fall. Sean and I are probably going to coach our boys again in September, so it would be fun to get these boys back together again for another season. We both really enjoy coaching. I think it's safe to say our entire family likes soccer a lot more than baseball. It's just more interesting. Megan keeps saying she wants to play soccer on Ben's team as well. If you look closely you can even spot her hugging me in the team picture (picture #2.) She's really interested in playing, so I'm sure next year we'll sign her up and I'll coach her team as well.
