"The Wild Wild West" - Day 7

On day 7 we took a break from our Teton adventures and drove north to Yellowstone National Park. Being so close to this historic park we all felt we should take a day and show the kids what makes Yellowstone so special. We first arrived at "Old Faithful." Jenny and I, along with Jenny's mother's family have all been to "Old Faithful" twice now, and both times we've lucked out and arrived about 5 minutes before an eruption (avoiding the 90 minute wait.) The kids really got a kick out of watching the iconic geyser explode. So much so that we ended up watching it twice. From there we continued onto the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (my personal favorite in the park.) You could tell the kids were just blown away. But the highlight of Yellowstone is of course its wildlife, and this day was no exception. We of course saw lots of elk, buffalo, and deer. But for the first time in my life we saw in the distance a female grizzly with 2 cubs frolicking by a small stream, and then later on the same drive we came across a small black bear foraging for food on the side of the road. I think all of us adults were more excited than the kids. It was very cool. After that we wrapped up an exciting day at a pizza place at Leek's Marina at Grand Teton.
