After our hike to Miner's Falls we hopped back in the car and drove over to see Miner's Castle. This is mainly one of those scenic-overlook areas of the park. It's kind of like the "Bear Lake" of the park, (Rocky Mountain NP reference) meaning it's the first place everyone goes when they visit the park.
The main feature here is the rock formation on the outer-most point of land you see in the pictures. You might find it hard to see the "castle" in Miner's Castle, and that's because several years ago part of it fell into the lake. Now it's not quite as recognizable. But still, the view here is pretty amazing. You get a great sense of just how massive Lake Superior really is...(the largest of all the great lakes.)
Another interesting fact about Lake Superior. The average temperature of the lake this time of year is between 45 and 48 degrees. It's some of the coldest water I've ever felt.
