Alaska! - Day 1

Last Saturday I spent the entire day flying from Midland to Anchorage. I had layovers in Detroit and Minneapolis, but I finally got there. Alaska is such a sight from the air. Amazing!
So on our first day Mike and I hopped aboard the Alaska Railroad and rode the train up north to Denali National Park. The train ride took about 6 hours, but at no point were we saying "are we there yet?" As you can imagine the views were amazing. You just sit there and take as many pictures as you can while Alaska zooms by in front of you. What a great way to see the interior of Alaska. Once we arrived we checked into our hotel - Denali Bluffs (not worth taking a picture of.) The hotel wasn't as nice as the website suggests, but it was still okay. Anyway, since we still had some daylight to use we took the bus into the park and did a quick hike to Horseshoe Lake. The highlight of the hike was running into a huge beaver. We watched it trot in front of us and start munching on a tree. That was cool.
