Alaska! - Day 5

On our 5th day we rented a car and drove south to the coastal town of Seward. The "Seward Highway" is a gorgeous drive, filled with stunning water and mountain views. Once in Seward we signed up for a kayak trip out on Resurrection Bay. The trip was a good workout, but very rewarding. We saw lots of sea otters, and at one point we paddled into an inlet river and floated over spawning salmon. The water was crystal clear allowing us to watch the swarms of fish. It was amazing to watch. Then as we returned to our starting point we were visited by a harbor seal, who was about 20 feet from us just checking us out. What an experience! Whereas Denali is the classic Alaskan interior setting, Seward is your classic "Alaska coastline" setting. It was very cool!
